Apollo Bay P12 College
Apollo Bay P12 has engaged ODW throughout 2026, assisting the school in developing ai policy, procedures and a roadmap for literacy with both teachers and students. We also ran a year 6 STEAM workshop, bringing AI tools together with 3D printing to explore creativity in the modern, digital world - the first steps in our AI literacy program.

The Problem
While AI use in schools has significant challenges, an approach was needed that addressed the ad-hoc nature of its current influence in both teaching and student learning.

Solution
The aim was to head towards both a policy and a set of AI literacy definitions that the school can adhere to for both staff and students. Why this direction: - Responsibility for outputs. Regardless of the support in creating material, an author must take ownership of what they deliver. - Understanding. Users of AI need to understand how AI works and why you might use it. - Safety. Any user of AI tools needs to be mindful of the data that should not be passed into a model.
